From the 1970s onward, the Fireside served as the home alley for Roseville native Steve Cook who went on to three major championships in the Professional Bowlers Association tour. Furniture was crafted in a Danish modern style and an intercommunication system permitted bowlers to contact the control desk or order refreshments without leaving their seats. Constructed in the same year and set in the Grand Oaks Shopping Center, the 24-lane structure contained a coffee shop and cocktail lounge, the latter housing the alley's namesake stone fireplace.
